About Me
Prague (Praha in Czech) is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic (1993-), and previously the capital of Czechoslovakia (1918-1992). I arrived on 9th September 2006, and stayed until 7th October in an apartment in the Červený vrch ("Red Hill") area of the City.

Prague, like many European cities, is poly-centric, having many hubs acting as local centres for shopping, services, transport etc., and has a population of some 1 900 000. The city centre itself can be said to be divided into five distinct areas: Staré město (Old Town), Nové město (New Town), Hradčany, Malá strana (Lesser Quarter) and Smichov.

The traditional heart of the City, and particularly for tourists, is the Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí), which is mid-way between Prague Castle (Pražký hrad) and the National Museum (Národní muzeum), a swathe that encompasses most of Prague's tourism hot-spots, including Charles Bridge (Karlův most)
